Technical Service Representative (Medium-High Voltage)

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The High Voltage Service Technician supports the safe and reliable operation of electrical power systems by assisting with troubleshooting, maintenance, testing, inspection, commissioning, and servicing of high- and medium-voltage equipment. This includes switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, protective relays, and other substation equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Perform preventative maintenance testing and inspections of electrical installations, including switchgear, circuit breakers, power transformers, and related station equipment. 
  • Interpret electrical drawings and schematics as required. 
  • Assist in the construction and retrofitting of electrical installations, including protective relay systems. 
  • Adhere to industry Acceptance and Maintenance standards in all work activities. 
  • Maintain and update all required safety certifications. 
  • Adhere strictly to EPTCON and client safety protocols, ensuring that all site work is conducted safely and in full compliance with regulations. 
  • Collaborate with the team lead to identify and mitigate potential hazards, implementing necessary engineering and administrative controls. 
  • Utilize hand tools and electrical testing equipment with high proficiency. 
  • Support the team lead in guiding projects to successful completion, offering technical input as necessary. 
  • Maintain professional interactions with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met. 
  • Prepare and organize tools, equipment, and materials for each assignment. 
  • Assist in the preparation and review of detailed reports, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness. 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

CANDIDATE PROFILE: 

  • Completion of an Electrical Technology program, an Electrical Apprenticeship, or equivalent work experience in the electrical field. 
  • 2+ years of experience in low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems is essential. 
  • Experience with substation equipment testing, maintenance, and repairs is preferred. 
  • Strong proficiency in using electrical testing equipment and hand tools. 
  • In-depth knowledge of industry Acceptance and Maintenance standards. 
  • Valid Driver’s License
